Oxum’s Feast – Celebrate in Golden Light

oxumar9Oxum’s Feast arising December 8th… celebrate in golden light, with yellow flowers, honey, and honoring of sacred union… feel her dancing through you as the darkness darkens and the light prepares to return…

Oxum or Oshun is the Yoruban Goddess of the sweet waters such as rivers, and waterfalls.  She is the Goddess of Love and of Sacred Sexuality.  Call upon her to teach you about the nature of love for Self and for your partner.  She loves beauty and so is pleased with the sweetness of honey, softness of flowers, cascading waters and beautiful adornments, such as jewelry and perfume.

Invoke her as you dance, making space for your own well being and pleasure.  Light an altar for her in your home.  Take a bath with flower petals and crystals, or sea salts herbs and essential oils… whatever arouses joy, play and relaxation in you.  Listen to your favorite music.  Luxuriate on a pile of pillows or sheepskin in front of a fireplace.  Get a massage.  Maybe even from a special someone.  Practice the art of giving and receiving.  It is not necessary to practice this with another human.. and in fact… might be more fun to practice giving and receiving with Spirit.

Give gifts and love to Mae Oxum and receive her beauty, truth and love in your body, mind and heart.

Theme for the day… Practicing what you Preach

Oxum-Altar-Self-Love

Self-love and self-care are a major part of being a Practical Priestess.  Magic works best when we have integration time in between rituals.  So, for today, I choose a dead sea salt scrub, shea butter lotion, a mani-pedi and massage after days of sleeping in.  Don’t forget, the goal is to be here, happily on Earth inside this glorious body temple we have been gifted.

Show your body some loving kindness.  When friends are going through it, my guess is you are the first one to suggest something fun or restorative to them.  You often forget to give yourself the same permission.  Add a nourishing home cooked meal to the equation – and take a festive cup of Peppermint Hot Cocao with you for your Pedicure.  I promise you will be happy you did.

SEASONS GREETINGS!
