Full Moon Magic – She is the Dark Mother

Sister Divine ~

The Dark Mother is very present right now on this Full Cold Moon approaching Winter Solstice here in the North. Can you feel Her?

She is Lilith, beautiful Goddess of feminine empowerment, liberation, and sexuality — greatly misunderstood and feared today by the collective consciousness of thousands of years of of patriarchal culture.

Legend tell us that Lilith was Adam’s first wife, made from the same Earth as his equal. When she absolutely refused to subordinate herself sexually and in all other ways to Adam, she was demonized.  Mythologically represented as an irresistibly seductive she-demon with long hair, she has become the scapegoat for the fear of feminine power.

She is the Serpent, primordial creative energy and the ultimate symbol of healing and wisdom. The serpent was worshiped in the ancient world as a force of regeneration, metamorphic change, and rebirth. The essence of the spiritual power of the cosmos, She is recognized in Hindu culture as the Kundalini fire.

I recently had a wonderful Vedic astrology reading that enlightened me to the fact that the cluster of stars called Ashlesha (Serpent) rules my chart. The astrologer quickly told me to not google “Ashlesha”, because almost everything written about it online is negative and fearful. She spoke of the misunderstanding of the energy of the serpent, which is feared by patriarchal culture. Ding ding ding. Here it was again.

The wild, sexual, transformative power of the Dark Goddess has gotten an extremely bad rap over the last few thousand years. She is fierce when she needs to be. She is not afraid to dive into the shadows and slay the true demons.

She is powerful beyond measure.

These next days are the darkest of the year. The Earth is quiet and we are called to be still and listen deeply.

• What has to transform in your psyche in order to do so?

May the energy of the Solstice, and the Rebirth of the Light, be an activation for you to step into your full radiant, feminine power. May we reclaim the vitality of the Dark Mother within each of us and in our collective field as a whole. May we step forward on our paths as healers, priestesses, and leaders in this world that so needs the medicine only we can give.
